** Description of the charts above:

The Vitamin & Mineral Score estimates the nutritional strengths and weaknesses, with each spoke representing a different nutrient. The spoke for dietary fiber is green, protein is blue, vitamins are purple, and minerals are white. A score between 0 and 100 is a relative indication of how complete the food is, with respect to these nutrients.

The Amino Acid Score estimates the amounts of each of the 9 essential amino acids. If one or more amino acid is not present in sufficient amounts, the protein in your diet is considered incomplete. Each spoke represents one of the 9 essential amino acids. A score of 100 or higher indicates a complete or high-quality protein. If the score is less than 100, it is optimal to combine with other foods with complementary amino acids.

*** The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) unit, ORAC value, or “ORAC score” is a method of measuring the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements. It was developed by scientists at the National Institutes of Health. It is recommended to consume between 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units per day from fruits and veggies.
