I had planned to do a 3 day juice cleanse this week. When I penciled it into my calendar, it didn't look like I would have any plans that would interfere, and I would be able to do 3 solid days of juice. However, I didn't factor in the 2 dinners I had planned with friends. So ultimately, I had to alter my juice cleanse and it got me thinking...
- Juice w/ raw fruits & vegetables: This is the best option because everything is still raw and you can also make a green smoothie with your favorite greens, fruit and berries (fruit can be fresh or frozen).
- Juice w/ a snack: This can be anything from an apple with almond butter, to a protein bar to a sweet potato; keep it healthy and plant based though. This doesn't mean munch on a bag of potato chips.
- Juice til dinner: This is what I had to do 2 of the 3 nights of my cleanse. Just keep your dinner small meal like 2 eggs scrambled w/ an avocado, or a salad w/ some sort of protein like shrimp or chicken (which you can find at just about any restaurant). Avoid bread, dairy, meat, sodas, and alcohol.
The moral of the story is that you can be flexible while doing your juice cleanse and still get many of the benefits of it. As long as you are getting the juice into your mouth it's working!
