RECIPES: 3 Healthy Dips for Labor Day

Don’t let Labor Day festivities sabotage your body goals!

Whether you just finished a juice cleanse and want to keep up your results, or you’re simply trying to eat a more nutritious diet, the impending Labor Day holiday weekend can totally wreak havoc on your healthy weight loss ambitions. With that in mind, our in-house executive chef created these 3 delicious dip recipes to serve at your weekend BBQ. They are all 100% plant-based and guilt-free to help you keep your body on the right track!

Serve alongside corn chips, fresh vegetable sticks, kale chips, dehydrated vegetables… whatever healthy options you prefer!

Skinny Spinach Artichoke Hummus

This dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan dip is a healthy fusion of two classic favorites- hummus and spinach artichoke dip. We served ours with dehydrated root vegetable chips. 

INGREDIENTS:

20 oz or about 2 cans garbanzo beans
17 
oz or about 2 cans artichoke hearts
3 cups packed baby spinach
¼ cup lemon juice
½ cup extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor and puree until desired consistency.

Peach Corn Salsa

This recipe is perfect if you're trying to stick to a raw diet!

INGREDIENTS:

6 semi-ripe peaches, diced
3 ears fresh corn, kernels removed
1 large red pepper, diced
1 small red onion, diced
6 sprigs fresh mint leaves, chopped
juice of 2 limes
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper

DIRECTIONS:

Fold all of the ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl until evenly combined. 

Layered Fiesta Dip

Three awesome layers of flavor! 

Layer 1: Simple Guacamole

INGREDIENTS:

3 avocados
2 cloves garlic, minced
juice of 1 lime
salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Mash avocados with garlic, lime, and salt. Set aside.

Layer 2: Black Bean Puree

INGREDIENTS:

2 cans black beans
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Puree ingredients in a food processor until desired consistency and reserve.

Layer 3: Fresh Tomato Salsa

INGREDIENTS:

6 red ripe tomatoes, diced
1 small red onion, small diced
6 sprigs fresh cilantro, chopped
juice of 2 limes
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
salt & pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all the ingredients in a medium-sized mixing bowl and toss. Set aside.

Directions for Layering:

In serving dish, layer your fiesta dip starting with the Simple Guacamole. With the back of a spoon spread evenly around dish. Repeat process with Black Bean Puree. Finally, top with fresh tomato salsa. Serve with classic corn tortilla chips and enjoy!
